Vision of art
1. Choose a work that represents you, describe it in relation to its format and materiality, its relation with time and space, its style and theme; detail its production process.
Each work represents a moment or particular aesthetic search; but i choose To the Pasture as part of the chain of work that has developed over the years: integrating drawing on paper (on cobblestone), with the volume of the object shaped in clay (shoe), and the real object (ball of cloth – rope). Playing with the relation of illusion and reality in representation. And all that can be seen as a unit. Excessive in size, the quotidian objects recall emotions of the past. This work belongs to a series of sculptures and drawings on paper that were generated between 1989-1993.
2. In general terms, how would you suggest to approach your work?
From a silent and tranquil contemplative state.
3. In reference to your work and your position in the national and international art fields, what tradition do you recognize yourself in? Who are your contemporary referents? What artists of previous generations are of interest to you?
I'm interested in those who build expressive spaces from a position, and who leave a place for reflection.
4. Choose works or exhibitions from the last ten or fifteen years which in your opinion were very significant and explain why
The first two that come to my head: Between the silence and the violence (Espacio Fundación Telefónica), and La vida de Emma en el taller de Spilimbergo (The life of Emma in the workshop of Spilimbergo) (Espacio Imago)
