Vision of art
1. Choose a work that represents you, describe it in relation to its format and materiality, its relation with time and space, its style and theme; detail its production process.
Though I feel they all talk about me, and each was in each moment a good representation of me; “Double Edge” [Doble Filo] is the piece which I still feel that reflects me and identifies me, I made it in the year 2000. A one square meter wooden support, polychrome aluminum, in which 100 razor blades are embedded, one edge protects the other damages. Yes, it gets quite close.
2. In general terms, how would you suggest to approach your work?
I don’t think I should be teaching anyone how t o read. I believe each one of us reads in a personal way, depending on how many stories you bring. That you have been read or that you chose to read.
3. In reference to your work and your position in the national and international art fields, what tradition do you recognize yourself in? Who are your contemporary referents? What artists of previous generations are of interest to you?
I don’t intend to position myself anywhere, I don’t stay anywhere, that’s why I keep searching, changing, doing. So much I’m interested in, and so little I know. I feed from whatever surrounds me, artists or not.
