I was born in a small city in southern Brazil called Tubarao. At age 17 I went to Florianópolis, capital of my state, to study the university (Architecture) and I started painting.
From there, followed Italy (Florence). I specialized in Renaissance art history ("Escuola Lorenzo di Medici").
In this city, living next to "dei Uffizi" and studying rebirth, my painting left the Brazilian naive I had, to become figurative and realistic trends.
From Florence, once I finished my studies, I moved to Milan, which at the end of the 80s was one of the culturally most effervescent centers of Europe: fashion was the center, but there were constant moves like the transvanguardia, also of figurative tendency. I lived in Milan 5 important years of my life, where I understood little and assimilated everything by osmosis.
I returned to Brazil and in the year 92 I met Buenos Aires.
I settled here definitely in 96.
At the Rojas Cultural Center doing the contemporary dance classes with Carlos Casella (from the Guarda, the Descueve), I started to see the gallery shows from there and to enter the world of Gumier Mayer. I saw Marcelo Pombo and floating tergopoles go by, Vittale and her world of mostacillas. A new aesthetic hitherto unknown to me.
The decorative of the 90s, was the first to be aesthetically incorporated into my work.
In 2000 I returned to paint only, in a deep questioning of what had made me start making art: the manipulation of reality, which in my case, mainly childhood, was quite unacceptable.
The pleasure as the main relationship with the work is at the center of my interest, not to deny myself, not deny my story, which theoretically would lead me to do a totally sincere work.
The decoration is still present as a pictorial element. I paint great allegories, fusing Baroque lights very "Caravaggio" and Pop or Kitsch elements. The scenes I assemble in interiors with productions that were becoming more and more theatrical. I'm not interested in instantaneity, naturalism or simulations of reality.
