- Horacio Sánchez Fantino
Since I was a child and with the help of my Canonet Junior, I constantly tried to capture “ an instant”. A strong vocation to service invaded me then... so I studied medicine. I went to the UNR, where I became a teacher. In spite of... my life was going on, but painful happenings made me leave the career I had chosen.
Then I decided that to spend my life observing, recording images, sharing studios, workshops, essays and investigations in the art field; Those were going to be my only true ways of living.
During some years I “stopped and retained” the brown water of my Parana River (I haven't mentioned that I was born in Rosario, Santa Fe, yes, my state is Santa Fe). In good company of poetry – another of my big passions – I used to feel the river inside of me, felt it really bad, so I started picking up materials and things that I found at the river shore and embodied them into paintings, paintings of different textures and materials, rusty and well-liked ones, also using simple objects, but real ones, with river smell and with its people's mysteries, who I had talk with a lot.
With these photographic and pictorial artworks, I have exhibited in many individual and collective showings; I've done book covers for writers and poets. I have also taught in different institutions.
There were also other phases with images, paintings and objects.
The Rosario rail-port meticulous survey; with no documentary intentions, I registered the conceptual and architectural changes it suffered.
I did several studies about the sky and the water, an obsession that follows me. Hundred of similar and different images.
During April and May 2007, in the Trillas saloon, El Circulo de Rosario Theater, I presented THE WALL, an installation with a sorted selection of works about bringing the receptor nearer to my last twenty years of production.
Vision of art
I try to evoke infant visions through different extracts and through changing my very first schoolbooks’ contents and meanings. It is an installation, which includes photographs, serial volumetric objects, texts and performance involving the audience.
In earlier tales I raised different subjects: “Those big lenses” (tale I), “ my library” (tale II), “my little dresses” ( tale III), “pignatas” (tale IV), In this case I've chosen to develop the series “sugar little chickens and liquor”. It was presented in IMAGO, art space of OSDE Foundation, during April and May, 2008.
Another exhibition I won’t forget is “Ex vote” – Italians offers from the XIX Century” in May of 2006 again in the Cultural Center Recoleta.
In Rosario: Cultural Center of Spain Park, November 2000. I remember Delia Cancela 2000 and in May of 2005 Hugo Padeletti's retrospective exhibition (1950 to 2005). I also note the Matilde Marin in the Recoleta's Cronopios exhibition hall.
